So true. I especially like the conversation about organic food. It drives me nuts when I see people jump on the organic band wagon, but can't give a solid argument about how buying organic will help the environment when all is said and done. I am waiting for the media to start talking about genetically modified food as a way to fight global warming and the food crises instead of focusing so much on organic food.
i need to read this entire article at some point. do you have a link to that?
on all the points he raises, i agree on the food issue the most. eating local is probably the best, and that is a statement with absolutely no evidence to back it up (from me, that is.) however, on the organic issue, his call for 'doing what is best for you individually' often is why people eat organic. the lack of preservatives, pesticides, etc., is often a big deal for some people.
nuclear energy, in my opinion, is a viable alternative, but unless the citizenry and government are looking VERY long-term (which they never ever do), it isn't happening anytime soon. approving and building a nuclear reactor doesn't happen overnight. saying nuclear energy solves the problem is easy-making it happen, not so much.
The link I give is the closest I have to the article, it was posted on NPR, so if the link does not work, just search NPR with the title.
